Condition:Bordered red cloth-bound hardcover with ornate gilt title to spine, STRAIGHT and TIGHT in GOOD MINUS CONDITION with an inscription ( a name) to the top of the first page of text. The spine only has been protected with an adhesive tranparent cover.

Description: Tobias George Smollett (1721 – 1771) was a Scottish poet and author. In the preface to his first novel, The Adventures of Roderick Random (1748), he acknowledges the influence of Alain René Le Sage’s L’Histoire de Gil Blas de Santillane (1715–35)
